Plot Summary

The story starts with the protagonist (Akuru) recounting a tale of romance. In the story, an alien professes her love to a man on Earth (out of the blue). Akuru questions how people (in real life) find love, if they just meet some stranger that “sweeps them away”. This recollection strongly alludes to the rest of the story. Akuru has a gambling problem. She sinks her paychecks into a mobile gacha game called Kensho (or “Sellswords”), egged on by her friend Shino. She’s after the (“Super Rare”) character Kohee-kun, and the last of her money is riding on one (randomized) pull. Before she had a chance to do the deed, an arrogant girl offers to “use her luck” to win Akuru something good. A Bird Story

Against all odds, she pulls Kohee-kun, and Akuru spills her guts about how much she loves Kohee-kun, and how she’s going to marry him. Little did Akuru know, the girl thought she intended those words for her. The next day, Ren tracks Akuru down, her “future fiance.” It takes Akuru a bit to figure out why Ren thinks she proposed to her, but she decides to entertain her. Ren is very, very pushy and is (suddenly) in love with her. Since the events of yesterday, Akuru figures she can take advantage of Ren’s luckiness for her mobile gaming. Akuru is a twenty-six year old, and she’s never loved anyone but (fictional) men from Kensho. Ren’s a young, young teenager who’s super trendy. Gameplay

As a story heavy game, you can expect to smash through textboxes. Every so often you will encounter choices, which will affect outcomes in the story. There are few choices to make, as this is a very linear game. If you press the “esc” key, the game will minimize. This is much, much preffered over other applications that close with the “esc” key. The title screen is static and fanciful. You can easily change your choice language, and preferences. There are plenty ‘o settings to tweak relating to text and sound. The portraits are high quality, but not varied. Each character has plenty of facial expressions, OshiRabu: Waifus Over Husbandos opens with Akuru Hayahoshi hanging around in a cafe with her friend Shino that shares her special interest. You see, Akuru is an otaku that loves her 2D guys and isn’t interested in “real” guys in any way – let alone girls. Unfortunately, she is pretty unlucky when it comes to RNG and thus, it doesn’t really help that she has to pull her husband through a gacha. I guess she got lucky for once when she happens to meet Ren Furutachi in the very same cafe who claims to have insane luck, so she manages to pull the card Akuru desires.

Characters

Hayahoshi Akuru is the female main character of the story who never happened to experience love towards a real person, her heart is dedicated to her 2D husbandos only. Therefore she is finding herself in difficulty having a cute girl suddenly making a love confession; Akuru had never experienced any romantic feelings for girls, not even 2D ones! Akuru works at Imperial Aso Hotel and spends her free time dedicating herself fully to nerd and otaku lifestyle. Spends more than she could afford on gacha games. she is the most contained one of the two, and often reminds Akuru to keep in mind how much of her salary she can afford to actually spend. She likes hanging around with Akuru and is a really supportive friend who is not afraid to speak up when she notices that Akuru is about to make some valuable mistakes. The young girl that suddenly gets attached to Akuru is called Furutachi Ren and happens to still be attending school while also keeping herself busy with part-time work. She confessed her love to Akuru after the events taking place at the first encounter… also states to be a lesbian and while understanding Akuru’s sentimental situation, she decides to not give up so easily.
